Howto fix Vsftpd 500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/home/

 

 

 

 

1. Error:

[root@dhcppc51 vsftpd]# ftp 192.168.1.151
Connected to 192.168.1.151 (192.168.1.151).
220 Welcome to IThelpblog.com FTP Server.
Name (192.168.1.151:root): ngo
331 Please specify the password.
Password:
500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/home/ngo
Login failed.
ftp> bye

2. How to Fix this Error

Disable SELinux on Server

[root@dhcppc51 ngo]# setenforce 0
[root@dhcppc51 ngo]#

3. Restart VSFTPd

[root@dhcppc51 ngo]# /etc/init.d/vsftpd restart
Shutting down vsftpd: [ OK ]
Starting vsftpd for vsftpd: [ OK ]
[root@dhcppc51 ngo]#

4. Trying to login

[root@dhcppc51 ngo]# ftp 192.168.1.151
Connected to 192.168.1.151 (192.168.1.151).
220 Welcome to IThelpblog.com FTP Server.
Name (192.168.1.151:root): ngo
331 Please specify the password.
Password:
230 Login successful.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp> ls
227 Entering Passive Mode (192,168,1,151,117,133).
150 Here comes the directory listing.
drwx—— 4 0 501 4096 Dec 10 07:08 kevin
drwx—— 4 501 502 4096 Dec 13 02:44 kevin.ngo
drwxrwxr-x 4 502 503 4096 Dec 16 08:23 ngo
drwx—— 26 500 500 4096 Dec 14 18:49 user
226 Directory send OK.
ftp> exit
221 Goodbye.
