How to Install Telnet on Centos or Redhat RHEL

 

1. Test if we can use telnet command or not

[root@localhost ~]# telnet localhost
-bash: telnet: command not found
[root@localhost ~]#

2. Telnet Installation

[root@localhost ~]# yum install telnet
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, refresh-packagekit, security

3. Check the command

[root@localhost ~]# telnet localhost

    Am I not reading this right? In step 3 (above) you check for the existence of the telnet command. But the system can still not find it, even after you installed it? So the installation failed.

    I must be missing something.
