Setting up domain controller in Windows Server 2003

Step 1:  Configure your domain controller to use static IP

Step 2: Start/Run: dcpromo 

Step 3: Click Next to continue setting up

Step 4:  By default, computers running Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 SP3 or earlier will not be able to log on with a domain controller running Windows Server 2003 or access domain resource. Click Next to continue…

Step 5:  Choose Domain controller for new domain to setting up the first domain controller in the new domain. Click Next to continue…

Step 6: Choose Domain in a new forest, Click Next

 

Step 7: Type Domain Name you wish to setting up in the blank, click Next…

Step 8: Use default Domain NetBIOS name,click Next…

Step 9: You can store Database and Log Files in other places (it’s helpful for backup job).Unless you can use default location by click Next to next step.

Step 10: Locate where you wish to store SYSVOL files, click Next to continue

Step 11:  You can use other DNS or install your DC as a DNS Server. Choose your option and click Next to next step…

Step 12: Choose permissions for user and group objects.Click Next to next step…

Step 13: Set your Directory Services Restore Mode Password, Click Next 

Step 14: Review and confirm the option you selected, click Next to Setting Up…

Step 15: Be sure Windows Server 2003 CD in your CD-ROM Drive. The process will be completed in several minutes…

Step 16: Completing the Active Directory Installation Wizard,Click Finish to close the wizard…

Step 17: Restart PC to take effect…

Step 18: Now your Server role as a Domain Controller with those functions:
